Minor CharactersThe Nurse--> a servant to the Capulets who breast-fed Juliet as a baby and has cared for her throughout her life playing a motherly role. She appears a very caring, comical, and loyal person who always making inappropriate remarks or speeches.
Benvolio--> Romeo's cousin and reliable friend. He always makes an effort to break the disputes up and promote peace. Mercutio--> Romeo's friend and kinsmen to the Prince. He rests as a cocky, overly imaginative, and at times odd person. Tybalt--> Juliet's cousin who acts hot-headed, violent, and quick to draw his sword. Lord Montague--> Romeo's father and leader of the Montague family. Lord Capulet--> Juliet's father and leader of the Capulet family. He cares for Juliet greatly but struggles to understand her thoughts or feelings. |
Minor CharactersLady Capulet--> Juliet's mother who clings to the idea of seeing her daughter marry.
Lady Montague--> Romeo's mother who later dies of grief. Paris--> kinsmen to the Prince who wishes to marry Juliet and well-liked by Lord Capulet. Prince Escalus--> Prince of Verona who remains strict and focuses on maintaining peace. Friar John--> a priest who had the job of delivering the message of Friar John's to Romeo. Balthasaar--> Romeo's reliable servant. The Apothecary--> sold Romeo the poison. Peter--> Capulet servant who lives illiterate and invited guests to the Capulet's party Abram--> Montague servant who fights with Sampson and Gregory in the first scene. Sampson and Gregory--> two servants to the Capulets who pick a fight with Abram in the first scene. |
Three Main Characters
Romeo (Montague)
Romeo is about 16 years of age and son of Lord Montague. He is handsome, a good friend, caring, and smart but is also impulsively immature with immense passion. During the play, his only interest is finding love and compassion. When he finally finds his love, he will do anything for his beloved.

Juliet (Capulet)
Juliet is about 13 years of age and daughter of Lord Capulet. She is beautiful, naive, unmindful, and trusting. She puts her entire life in the hands of Romeo and is willing to go through extreme measures to be with him and love him.

Friar Lawrence
He is a Catholic priest who is experienced with mystical potions and herbs. He is kind, hopeful, good-hearted, and always ready with a suggestion or advice. He plays a huge role in the way the story-line plays out.
